Downtown Volunteer Opportunity

In September, Downtown Durham launced The Streetery!

Through the Streetery, DDI will be opening multiple streets in downtown to pedestrian traffic with festive lights, music and performers sprinkled throughout.

It is DDI’s way of welcoming folks to a safer, socially distanced, outdoor downtown experience.

You are invited to support this effort and join DDI for one or more weekends as a Streetery greeter.

Greeters help with setup or takedown of the street barriers, as well as helping set up signage, umbrellas and the luminaries that line the streets. In addition, greeters are stationed at strategic intersections to help point drivers and pedestrians in the right direction and hand out information about participating merchants.

Shifts are 4:30 – 7:15 p.m. or 7 – 9:45 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from September 18 through December 19. (Shifts may be canceled for inclement weather or other emergencies.)

All volunteers must follow all local and state guidelines for social distancing. DDI will have masks available.

As a way of thanking volunteers for their invaluable help, DDI will provide a $5 SpendaBull gift card for each shift served. SpendaBull cards are good at many downtown merchants. It is a small way of showing our gratitude for your help in making The Streetery a success.

Please click the link below to sign up for one or more shifts. If you have any questions, please contact Anna Branly.

Once you volunteer, Anna will follow up with more information.

Thank you!
