After the KT COLLECTIVE performance on Friday, Nov. 6, stick around and join us for a celebration of the Durham Elder Storyteller Project, featuring video clips from interviews with 19 longtime Durham residents representing six neighborhoods. Hear firsthand stories of the people, places, and experiences that have shaped Durham—from family and community life to the institutions, schools, and businesses that helped define the city.

Enjoy refreshments while discovering how to access the project’s full collection of oral history interviews, available online and preserved for future generations.

Durham-based videographer Bill Erwin produced hour-long interviews capturing the experiences and memories of these elders, including stories of everyday neighborhood life dating back to the 1930s and how residents came together to preserve their communities’ heritage in the face of outside pressures.

The project was funded by Duke University’s Doing Good Employee Giving Program.
