J is for Jazz – WHAT A HIT!

Hats off to everyone who stopped by to help us celebrate the opening of Durham A-Z: J is for Jazz and kick off the Art of Cool Fest. We are grateful to have Grammy-nominated bassist John V. Brown and saxophonist/flutist Dr. Ira Wiggins lead a quartet to highlight the evening.

In case you missed it, keep an eye on our Facebook photo page, as we keep posting pictures from the event. We also made a short video you can watch here:

We are truly thankful to those who made Jazz come to life: PNC, The Mary Duke Biddle Foundation, Michael Hershfield and Susan Rosenthal, Nnenna Freelon Chimusic Company Inc., Benjamin Reese, The Art of Cool Project, Mary Lou Williams Center for Black Culture at Duke University, North Carolina Central University Jazz Studies Program, and Hayti Heritage Center.

Public history builds community and enhances other cultural offerings, like our partner Art of Cool Project. Help us continue to bring these fun FREE events and exhibits to the community. We can’t do it without your support!
