Our Fireside Chat Was A Huge Success!
Posted on February 12, 2026
Over 100 people came out on February 5th to hear The Early History of RTP: A Fireside Chat at the Durham Arts Council. We were absolutely overjoyed to see such an amazing turnout!

The discussion took place in Durham Arts Councils’ PSI Theater, and was moderated by Virginia “Ginny” Rand Bowman, managing general partner of Northgate Realty and a longtime Durham business and civic leader. Bowman was joined by John Atkins, co-founder of O’Brien/Atkins, David Beischer, President of Garden View Realty, and Robert “Robb” D. Teer Jr., founder of Teer Associates. Together, the panelists shared little-known stories and behind-the-scenes insights into how vision, collaboration, infrastructure, and design shaped Research Triangle Park and influenced its long-standing relationship with Durham.
We couldn’t have asked for a better audience, and we are so grateful for everyone who took the time to come out and join us on a cold evening! Our community’s support is what keeps us going, and helps to preserve Durham’s unique and diverse history.
Keep an eye out for more interactive exhibit-related events coming soon!

This program was put on in conjunction with our current exhibit, Made in the Triangle: The Story of RTP, which explores the people, partnerships, and ideas behind the Park’s creation. Visit the Current Exhibits tab to learn more.
