Events - The Museum of Durham History’s 2022 Dining Series
The Museum of Durham History is pleased to announce that we are partnering with five popular Durham restaurants to host a special Dining Series! As part of the programming surrounding our latest exhibit, Dining Out In Durham, we will feature monthly dinners where ticket holders will experience one-of-a-kind meals and learn about the history and culture behind different cuisines.
When an event in the Dining Series reaches capacity for ticket sales, it will be removed from the form below. At the end of the form, Museum patrons are given the option to offset the electronic transfer service fee.
The first event in this series will be at Parizade on Thursday, June 16th from 6-8pm. Guests will enjoy upscale locavore Mediterranean dishes, as well as stories of neighborhood lore from “street historian” John Schelp and his Postcards from Durham.
For the second event of the Dining Series, the Museum and company will be hosted by COPA. Those with tickets to this meal will enjoy traditional Cuban plates made with locally-sourced ingredients in a relaxed setting. This event will take place on Tuesday, July 19th, from 6-8pm, and will feature a guest speaker (TBD) that will discuss the Latin influence present in Durham cuisine. Tickets for this event are $70 each, with an allotment of fewer than 20 tickets, so act fast!
The third stop in the Dining Series will head to Geer Street Garden. Taking place on Wednesday, August 10th, from 6-8pm, the Museum and guests will be treated to a family-style meal of delectable southern cooking. Ticket-holders can expect a history of Durham dining in the Civil Rights Era from a local historian (TBD). Tickets for this event are $45 each.
The fourth installment in the series will have us traveling to 9th Street, where JuJu will host the Museum and guests. On Tuesday, September 13th, from 6-8pm, ticket-holders will have 3 options to choose from of 4-course meals. Our guest speaker, Juju’s own Kate Nash (MA, Museum Studies), will discuss the culinary trends and impact of Asian culture on southern cooking in North Carolina, and a musical performance from Triangle Taiko, as well! Tickets for this event are $75 each.
The final Dining Series event will find the Museum and Company at Vin Rouge. Ticket-holders will enjoy a family-style meal that pays homage to the French New Wave of the 50s and 60s, while enjoying a presentation from a local historian on Durham’s diverse food scene, both past and present. This meal will take place on Wednesday, October 19th, from 7-9pm. Tickets are $65 each.
