Thanks to You, we’ve met our match… and then some!

A HAPPY NEW YEAR, INDEED!

Just a couple of months ago we came to you, our Durham community, with a challenge to raise $30,000 by 11:59PM on New Year’s Eve to support our ongoing programs and mission.

We have been busy processing your generous contributions from 2021’s final week, and we’re THRILLED to say that we not only met our $30,000 goal, but have exceeded it, reaching a total of…

$54,000 and counting!!

That’s right: THE TOTAL IS STILL GROWING! The success of this campaign would not have been possible without our MoDH friends, and your investment in your local history museum. We are honored that you share our belief that the stories of Durham deserve to be told far and wide. And with your support, we’ll keep gathering and telling those stories. Thank you!

On behalf of our staff and volunteers, we want to thank our Board of Directors, who not only roll up their sleeves to embody a “working board”, but answered the call of fellow board member Ruth Dzau and her husband Victor, to establish the $10,000 match challenge. We owe a very special thanks to Mr. Aaron Spaulding, who added another $5,000 match to our campaign in honor of his parents, Asa and Elna. Mr. Spaulding’s gift put even more wind in our sails!

It is a truly wonderful way to start the new year, and a bright spot amidst the uncertainty we are all facing again, together. We recognize our responsibility to document this time in our history and preserve the story for future generations. This solid foundation you’ve helped establish ensures that will happen.

We appreciate your patience as we continue to ship out boxes of Ginger Snaps from our neighbors at Ninth Street Bakery.

Anyone who made a donation of $100 or more after we ran out exhibit banner tote bags, but still expecting one, please contact us at info@modh.org. We’ll make sure you get one from the next batch!
