Royal Ice Cream Sit-In Commemoration

We had such a wonderful evening honoring the legacy of the Royal Ice Cream seven who bravely challenged segregation through the 1957 sit-in. We are so grateful to have had sit-in participants Mary Clyburn Hooks and Virginia Williams share their stories as well as to hear from Floyd McKissick, Jr. and Drew Marsh III whose fathers were involved in the ensuing legal case. Special thanks to MoDH board member Alice Sharpe who sponsored our newest artifact: an original Royal Ice Cream sign that hung from the building. Thank you to everyone who attended and to our volunteers for making it possible!
