MoDH volunteers recognized for their service

In May, two of the Museum’s long-time volunteers were invited to attend a special luncheon hosted by the Triangle Volunteer Center. This gathering of Key Volunteers recognized the service of individuals in the community who are providing service to over 30 local organizations and their causes.

We are so grateful for all of the hard work that Grace Sweeney and Kathy Claspell have dedicated to the Museum of Durham History from the very beginning!

Before retiring, Grace worked as one of the Museum’s weekend managers. Her dedication has continued as she is now donating her time as our Volunteer and Outreach coordinator!

Kathy is a weekly volunteer who puts her library background to use by organizing and maintaining our visitor information database and conducts research for programming. She says of her volunteer experience:

“I volunteer for the Museum of Durham History because I love to help visitors explore Durham’s past in a rapidly changing city.  A history museum is important in understanding Durham’s cultural landscape.”

Interested in getting involved with the museum? Volunteers play a critical role at the MoDH, and we are always looking for new team members– apply today!
