Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Floyd B. McKissick Sr.

On Friday, November 18th 2022, the Museum of Durham History celebrated the official unveiling of The Life and Legacy of Floyd B. McKissick Sr. here at 500 W. Main St. The exhibit also has installations at NCCU Turner Law Building and Hayti Heritage Center (opening Dec. 2022). The event was a huge success and we are so grateful for the Museum’s friends that attended. Below, Floyd McKissick Jr. addresses guests. His sister Dr. Charmaine McKissick-Melton also spoke.  Exhibit sponsor Duke Health’s Debra Clark Jones, Associate Vice President for Community Health also made remarks (center in blue dress).

We deeply appreciate Floyd McKissick Jr., Dr. Charmaine McKissick-Melton, and friends of the McKissick family for sharing their memories and feelings on Floyd B. McKissick Sr. and the impact he left.

We really got to see the legacy that Floyd B. McKissick Sr., with so many of his family members attending and making the event all the more special.

And a huge thanks to Brannon Bollinger and Friends for the musical entertainment. Make sure to check them out on Instagram.
