Board Retreat Brings Fresh Ideas

As the MoDH approaches it’s 5th anniversary this October (time flies!) its leadership is taking the opportunity to reflect and look toward the future. On a recent Saturday in late March, the MoDH board of directors held a daylong retreat to focus on its goals and mission. The MoDH wants to make sure it remains a dynamic and engaging 21st century museum that has a meaningful impact and serves the Durham community.

Led by volunteer facilitator E’Vonne Coleman of the Durham Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, the staff joined the board in discussing what has worked in the past, ways it can strengthen programs, and how to make the most of upcoming opportunities. One of the major goals that was enthusiastically supported was to increase service to local partners in education. The museum will be dedicating more resources to local schools as well as to work with faculty in Durham Public Schools to develop educational programming.
