“Our Day Out” Remembrance March & Resource Fair
On the morning of June 27th, the LGBTQ Center of Durham is also hosting the “Our Day Out” Remembrance March & Resource Fair, the last of its Pride: Durham, NC programs for the month of June. The title “Our Day Out” comes from 45 years ago, when the first LGBTQ+ march in North Carolina was held on June 27, 1981 in response to the anti-gay assault and murder of Ronald “Sonny” Antonevitch. As National Pride Month comes to a close, community members will gather near Major the Bull to march from CCB Plaza at 10:00 and progress peacefully to the LGBTQ Center of Durham’s offices for speeches and a resource fair with more than 40+ community organizations tabling.
Start: CCB Plaza (201 Corcoran St)
End: LGTBQ Center of Durham (114 Hunt St)
This event is presented by the LGBTQ Center of Durham. The programming partnership is part of the ongoing events in conjunction with the MoDH’s current exhibit, To Love and Live Free: The 1986 Mayoral Recall and the Origins of Durham Pride.
