Dozens of well-wishers turned out for Lucille Ervin’s 108th birthday party at the site of her special present: a History Grove in her honor on the grounds of St. Mark AME Zion Church. The Ervin Grove is the fourth in which the Museum has collaborated with local neighborhoods and groups to honor individuals, families or organizations important to Durham’s past. Each site contains appropriate plantings, a bench and a commemorative marker. See History Groves for more information.
